What is Shea butter?

Shea butter is fat (ivory in color) that is extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree native to Africa. It has been in use for thousands of years and it packs a lot of benefits for both hair and skin. The Shea (Karite) tree can be found predominantly in parts of Western, Central and Eastern Africa. Together, these regions form what is commonly referred to as the Shea belt.

Root2tip whipped butter

Our very own whipped butter for natural hair is made with unrefined organic Shea butter. It is carefully combined with the right amount of premium quality olive oil. It is then proportionately balanced with therapeutic essential oils. This makes it the perfect blend for strengthening and softening hair without leaving it feeling greasy. Moreover, it has a heavenly scent and is packed with important vitamins and nutrients.

Benefits of Shea butter for hair

Moisturizes hair
When hair lacks moisture it becomes dry, frizzy and dull. Shea butter naturally moisturizes hair. Its moisturizing properties are attributed to its high fatty acid content. These include: oleic and stearic, palmitic, arachidic and linoleic acids. They help drench individual hair strands with sufficient amounts of moisture and hydrate the scalp.

Prevents breakage
Hair breakage can be a menace when you are trying to grow long and healthy hair. Shea butter helps prevent breakage by nourishing and strengthening hair roots and strands. The abundant availability of fatty acids give it the ability to enter the hair shaft and replenish it rapidly. It also helps prevent damage to hair follicles while taming split ends.

Helps detangle hair
Shea butter helps soften hair. It makes it easier to brush and style by detangling matted hair. This African butter is even more magical and beneficial since it promotes healthy hair growth. Shea butter also improves the appearance of your hair by adding luster and shine, therefore making your hair look healthier and darker.

Offers UV protection
Shea offers unmatched protection from harmful effects of sun exposure. It reduces oxidative and physicochemical stress caused by UV rays. Through such protection, Shea butter helps avoid damage to the stem cell in the hair follicle, thus stopping production of dry and damaged hair strands.

Soothes scalp
Another thing that Shea butter is known for is its ability to reduce inflammation of the scalp. Shea butter reduces itchiness, irritation, flakiness and acts as a natural barrier to microbes, fungus and bacteria. This helps soothe the scalp and promote circulation. Furthermore, Shea butter suppresses hair loss factors and prevents premature aging of hair follicles and strands.

Great for my scalp

Love this oil, not heavy, and doesn't leave any residue, keeps my scalp moisturised and flake free, also helped with my eczema.

Been using it since August of last year, I like to wait till I get to use a product properly before I write any review.

Great buy.

Great product!!

Love this! Great detangle spray.

Nice product

My girls and I have all different hair types, I love the moisture it gives us all. The only down side is my kids are reluctant to use as they don't like how it smells.

Happy Customer

Bought this product for my 8mth old. Was on a search for something that agrees with her sensitive scalp, and already thick hair.I am loving it 😍 will definitely be buying again 😁

My scalp tingled with delight!

From the second I put this on my hair it felt amazing, my scalp came alive and I could really feel the product working on my scalp, even after rinsing it out. The fragrance is perfect and the foam level is really good, I was quite surprised by how little I needed to achieve a lot of foam. My hair (Type 4c) looks and feels great, no breakage, feels soft and is glossy. I normally dread washing with shampoo as my hair has to "recover" from being stripped of its oils but not today, I felt like something was added for a change. I followed the shampoo, with the Detangling leave-in conditioner but to be honest I could have got away without it as it was so conditioned by the shampoo alone. No tugging, no breakage, it was a dream. Excellent product 11 out of 10!
